Siamese Twins
I know you all must be intrigued after reading this post's title. So, before coming to the meaning of Siamese Twins, first I would like to ask how many types of twins do you know about? Most of yours answers would be 'two' but the fact is that there are three types of twins. Now, you must be wondering which is the third type. Siamese Twins are the third kind of twins. The other name for these type of twins is 'conjoined Twins'. So lets know in a little more in detail about them. At the end of this post I have a surprise for you all, keep on reading to find out.
First, I would like to talk in general about these twins. Conjoined Twins as the name says are two siblings physically connected to each other. Physically means like they are joined to each other from one body part most commonly their chests, abdomens or pelvises.
Mainly these twins have separate organs like separate hearts, lungs etc. The twins may be joined physically but they are completely different people.
Conjoined twins are most likely to die after 2- 3 months of their birth.
So, now enough information about conjoined twins but the best way to know about something is to get to know one set of them.
Today I am going to introduce to you a pair of conjoined twins - Abby and Brittany Hensel.
When they were born, only one baby was there physically with just another head coming out of its head.
It was predicted that their parents will have only one baby not Conjoined twins.
After their birth, the doctors predicted that they will also die within 2-3 months. But the twins are still living and are very famous also.
Abby and Brittany live with their family along with their younger brother and sister in the countryside.
Eventually after their birth their body's started growing separately with their own separate organs. Currently, each one of the twin has one leg, one hand and their own hearts, liver etc. But out of two lungs, one of their lungs is joined together.
Did you know Conjoined Twins can get their surgery done and get separated. Now, you must be wondering why didn't Abby and Brittany get separatedπ€π€π€.
When their parents came to know that they were going to live, they took them to the doctors at the age of four to get their surgery done. The doctors told them that there was much risk and that both the twins could lose their lives during surgery. Till then, the twins had learnt how to coordinate with each other and do and carry on with their lives. That's when their parents made the decision to not separate the twins.
Now, the twins have learnt to do each and everything together, they walk they talk they do everything together.
As I wrote above, that each one of them has one hand and one leg. It must be very difficult to coordinate and walk, move their hands etc. and the surprising thing is that they even participate in sports. I have learnt that the twins are very good at playing football. No one knows how they coordinate with each other to do such things.
In the Current date, despite of being conjoined, Abby and Brittany Hensel are Primary school teachers. The children love their teaching and the twins love their job.
The teamwork of these twins have made them successful in doing everything independently.
Like I wrote in the beginning that I have a surprise for you all and that is....
